Ascension bolsters emergency response with new Quad-Bike

AIG is pleased to announce the arrival of a new quad-bike, an important piece of lifesaving equipment. This addition is set to significantly bolster the capabilities of the island’s Sea and Land Rescue operations in serving the community effectively.

The quad-bike will primarily be used to tow the JetRIB to the Pierhead for swift launching. The availability of two vehicles for simultaneous launch of boats is a strategic enhancement, allowing for faster response times during emergency situations. Furthering its utility, the quad-bike will also play a crucial role in land-based search and rescue operations. This will enable faster deployment of assistance to individuals in distress across the island.

Equipped with a VHF Radio, search-lights, and first aid equipment, the 4×4 quad-bike is well-prepared to address various emergency scenarios, ensuring a comprehensive and efficient response mechanism.

This significant upgrade in the emergency response infrastructure of Ascension Island has been made possible through funding provided by UK’s Maritime & Coastguard Agency, under the FCDO Conflict, Stability and Security Fund’s (CSSF) Governance programme.
