Childminding Review: Have your say

20 April 2026

Government, Press Release

The Ascension Island Government would like to remind the public of this week’s island-wide review of the current childminding arrangements to better understand how services are working and how they can be improved for children, parents, and childminders across the island.

We are keen to hear directly from all childminders, including those who may not currently be registered but are providing care, as well as parents and families who rely on childminding services.

Have your say

We are hosting three sessions:
• Tuesday 21 April 2026, 11:00–12:00 at Ladybirds
• Thursday 23 April 2026, 18:00–19:00 at the AIG Guesthouse
• Tuesday 28 April 2026, 11:00-12:00 at Bungalow 2, Georgetown

Children are welcome to attend all sessions.

These sessions are an opportunity to share your experiences, discuss what is working well, and identify where improvements can be made. The review aims to ensure childminding on Ascension is safe, accessible, and supportive for everyone involved.

Additional ways to contribute

Please complete our online questionnaire if you would like to contribute your thoughts on childminding on Ascension. Printed versions will be made available at Two Boats School and the Hospital. One-to-one discussions with the social worker can be arranged for those who would prefer to speak confidentially.
