The new Ascension Island Administrator, Steven Chandler, will arrive on island on 09 March 2019.

Steve joined the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 1989.  In a varied career his most recent overseas assignments have included short-term postings as Deputy Head of Mission in British Embassies in Poland (2011), Thailand (2012) and Tunisia (2017), and as the Acting British High Commissioner in Fiji (2013).

His most recent home assignments were as Deputy Head of the FCO’s Crisis Management Department (2007-10), Deputy Head of the Counter Proliferation and Arms Control Centre (a Joint FCO/MoD/BEIS Unit) (2014-2017) and Head of the British Indian Ocean Territory Judicial Review Team in the FCO’s Overseas Territories Directorate (2018).

Steve is single and will be unaccompanied during his posting to Ascension.

On learning of his appointment Steve said:
