Question
CEF 03 2026 – Scouts Beach Hut
Councillor Bally asked:
A member of the community has approached me regarding the future of Scouts Beach hut. The site has severely worn down over the years and it appears no maintenance or future hopes of restoring are present.
The main questions that were asked:
- Are AIG going to be repairing / restoring Scouts Beach hut?
- Would AIG consider leasing or selling part ownership of Scouts Beach hut to a member of the community willing to maintain and improve facilities
AIG Responded: Thank you for raising the matter of Scouts Beach hut.
The Scouts have already applied for, and been granted, funding via the AIMPACT Fund to support the restoration of their beach hut. This restoration work is being undertaken by members of the Scouting community themselves, and plans are in place to improve the condition and usability of the site. As a result, Ascension Island Government (AIG) does not currently have any plans to repair or restore the hut directly, nor to consider leasing or selling part ownership of Scouts Beach hut. The site remains in use by the Scouts, with restoration activity now underway. AIG welcomes the commitment shown by the Scouting community in maintaining and improving their facilities and will continue to support community led initiatives where appropriate.
