Question

CEF 18 2025 – Health & Safety at Turtle Ponds

You asked: I was asked if health and safety could access the turtle ponds beach hut area as there is no safely railing leading from the beach to the ponds. This is quite dangerous for small children and adults and you could easily trip and find yourself on the rocks below. I was also asked that if railings should be introduced if they would be able to be clear as when children our playing in the ponds below it would be easier to supervise from above.

AIG Responded: We agree that some improvements are required at the turtle ponds to improve the safety of visitors. Our operations teams will fill the gullies caused by flooding to prevent slips and trips. We will also place some additional large rocks near the edge of the beach, leading towards the sea.
The request for a safety rail was received last year and, after careful consideration, it was decided not to install any additional safety railings.
Additional signage will be installed, however we would strongly advise parents particularly of young children, to be extra attentive of children and exercise caution when visiting the area.
