A collaborative initiative between USSF and AIG

The Ascension Island Government (AIG) is pleased to announce the launch of a new collaborative initiative with the United States Space Force (USSF) Base to support the sustainable upcycling of waste lubrication oil for use in AIG’s incinerator.

Through this procedure, waste oil generated by the USSF Base will be repurposed as a supplemental fuel source. Upcycling waste lubrication oil is a proven method of energy recovery, using the oil’s high heating value to enhance the combustion efficiency of low-BTU waste, such as municipal solid waste, processed through AIG’s incinerator.

This partnership supports the One Island Vision to identify opportunities for collaboration on joint projects in support of resource efficiency, environmental impact reduction, and strengthening cooperation between island stakeholders.
